Russia architect. Graduated from the Imperial Academy of Arts in 1815. In 1819 went on a trip abroad. In 1821 he is entitled member of the Roman Art School, in 1822 he becomes professor of the Florence Art School. In 1831 he is admitted to the Academy of Arts as its member and professor (1833). In 1837 he becomes the leading architect of the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour in Moscow, and of the Grand Kremlin Palace in 1837. In 1838 he becomes principal of the Academy of Arts, in 1857 - court architect. Founder of the Russian-Byzantine style
